Provide Cyber Security Protection to Politicians
Nigeria is not necessarily within the crosshairs of global political animosity. Yet, as the 2019 election kickstarts, I have one recommendation for the SSS and NIA (National Intelligence Agency) for protecting major presidential candidates: besides the physical security, you must also offer them electronic cyber security. It makes sense as enemies (local and international) can manipulate their campaigns.
It is becoming clear that most elections held in the Western World since 2014 might have been compromised. Nigeria needs to prepare not just for physical security of the candidates but also cybersecurity if we hope to maintain the integrity of the political systems. Do not be surprised if a major candidate posts on the day of the election that he has withdrawn on Twitter or Facebook in 2019.
Any country that thinks that a specific candidate can stop its vision to control some strategic assets in Nigeria could use social media to confuse the citizens. If SSS and NIA cannot provide cyber security support to the political parties and the major candidates, 2019 will bring real pains.

A very proactive recommendation to say the least. I doubt if the authorities mentioned have all that covered already, maybe for the ruling party.
While some are fixated and obsessed with 'hate speech', this is where a realtime monitoring is needed, for all candidates, not just the anointed ones.
We still got some time left, so all the cybersecurity infrastructure can be put in place; many professionals are within reach to assist the DSS and NIA to carry out such serious undertaking. These days anyone can sit anywhere and manipulate everything, you just have to prepare for all scenarios.
