Amy Schumer is correcting the misinformation. After being criticized for removing all of the pictures from her social media accounts that were uploaded before to her weight loss makeover, the comic clarified her position.
"Hey media outlets I didn’t delete my old photos because they were pre me losing weight," on November 12, Amy posted on Instagram. "That’s a narrative you created. I’m proud of how I’ve looked always."
After all, when the 44-year-old considers changes to her physique, she does not consider how many pounds she is lost. She and her husband, Chris Fischer, have a 6-year-old kid named Gene.
"I have been working to be pain free and I finally am," she clarified. "My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal. I am grateful to be strong and healthy especially for my son."
In fact, Amy, who in 2024 received a diagnosis of Cushing's syndrome—a condition caused by an excess of the hormone cortisol—emphasized that she "did not purposefully go on a weight-loss journey."
"That’s a fine thing to go on," she went on. "But my focus has been on health. I’m sure my weight will always fluctuate."
What, specifically, motivated her to make the adjustments to her social media page? A small amount of artistic expression.
"Your Instagram is not your identity, it’s a curation of what you want the world to see," she stated, "and I feel great strong and beautiful and it’s been fun sharing that."
The Trainwreck star went on to say, "Wishing you strength and self love on whatever path you’re on as long as it’s kind and respectful to all people. No matter their weight race or religion peace!"
When Amy posted a picture of herself wearing a black minidress during a girls' trip she took to Vegas in October, she made her smaller body her first public display.
The I Feel Pretty diva has been experimenting with various ways to enhance her health since 2022, including briefly using Ozempic, even though she has started to experience noticeable improvements in the past year.
“I was bedridden,” when Amy appeared on The Howard Stern Show in January, she talked about her experience with the Type 2 diabetes medication, which is frequently used as a weight control prescription. “I was vomiting and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they're all good, so God bless them.”
