Can You Refine Data-Oil?

DATA is the New Oil but can you refine it? You cannot be a 21st century category-king company if you cannot REFINE and monetize transactional data that exists in your ecosystem. The blue-collar job of the 21st century is software but the gunpowder to conquer for alpha will be data refining.

Refine like WeChat, enable commerce. Refine like Amazon, set new basis of competition. Refine bits and bytes, overcome carbon and hydrogen in Nigeria

That's the big issue, making sense and knowing what to with the massive data in your ecosystem. It could be the new oil, but its refining is much more complicated than fracking and cracking on the other side.
