Selena Gomez is asking her followers to relax. The singer of "Kill 'Em With Kindness" posted an update that appeared to respond to recent remarks made by Hailey Bieber, whose Rhode Beauty brand is currently available in Sephora stores alongside Selena's Rare Beauty items.
“Just leave the girl alone,” on October 17, Selena wrote in an Instagram Stories post that was quickly removed. “She can say whatever she wants. Doesn't affect my life whatsoever. It's just about relevance not intelligence.”
Rather, she asked her fans to "be kind." The 33-year-old who wedded music producer Benny Blanco in September.
“All brands inspire me,” she went on. “There is room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop.”
A few days prior, Hailey, who married the star of Only Murders in the Building's ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber in 2018, discussed the growth of her brand and stated that she has no interest in competing with the other products available on the market.
“It's always annoying being pitted against other people,” in a segment with WSJ Magazine that was published on October 14, the 28-year-old stated. “I didn't ask for that. When people want to see you a certain way and they've made up a story about you in their minds, it's not up to you to change that.”
In fact, Hailey stated that she had only one rival in mind: herself.
“I think there is space for everybody,” the model revealed. “I don't feel competitive with people that I'm not inspired by.”
Although there have been long-running reports of a dispute between Hailey and Selena, both business owners have consistently denied having any animosity against one another. For example, Selena made a statement in March after discovering that Hailey was receiving negative feedback on the internet.
“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” at the time, Selena posted on Instagram Stories. “This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying.”
“I've always advocated for kindness,” she also said, “and really want this all to stop.”
