The greatest freedom online is when you know the right people to ignore. Until you do that, you will not find your mission. There are people who begin comments with attacks, but when you ask a follow-up question, they delete. You know what happened? They came with malice, and would see negativity, scaring the community, irrespective of the discussion. Find ways to filter the noise and pursue your mission.
