A terrible loss has left the NFL community in grief. His brother Alford Bailey Jr. revealed to TMZ that Allen Bailey, a former defensive end who played for the Kansas City Chiefs for eight seasons and the Atlanta Falcons for two before 2020, was discovered dead inside their Florida home on October 20 by his wife Lauren Bailey. He was 37 years old.
According to the family, Allen's death was likely caused by natural causes. The cause of death was not officially stated.
Antoine Armstrong, the former NFL player's cousin, said he "couldn't believe it" when he heard the devastating news.
“You showed everyone what it looked like to live out a dream…from being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons to playing for the Kansas City Chiefs,” on October 20, he posted on Facebook. “You gave so many people someone to cheer for and a reason to believe their dreams were possible, too.”
Armstrong went on, “You were a light, and the love you shared and the lives you touched will not be forgotten. Rest easy, cousin. I’ll never forget all the times we had together growing up bro.”
Allen's family also received condolences from members of the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Sad news, the passing of Allen Bailey,” Andy Reid, the head coach, started his press conference on October 21. “Our hearts go out to his family. Prayers are with them.”

Reid also considered the defensive end, describing Allen as a "great kid" who passed away "way too young" and mentioning that he was one of his favorite players.
Playing alongside Allen in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, quarterback Patrick Mahomes also recalled their friendship, saying he would treasure the time he had with the defensive end.
“Obviously it’s terrible to hear the news that we heard,” at the news conference, he stated. “[He was] a great teammate. I mean, you see him and he’s one of those glue guys on the team. He makes plays. Not necessarily the superstar, but the guy that makes everything go.”
Mahomes went on to say, “We’re praying for his family. And know that all his teammates, we’ve talked and we know that we’re gonna do whatever we can to support those guys.”
