Angelina Jolie's Daughter Vivienne Seeks to Legally Remove Brad Pitt's Last Name After Turning 18.
Vivienne, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is starting a new phase in her life. As per to court records obtained by publications, eight days after turning eighteen, Vivienne petitioned the Los Angeles Superior Court to have her father's surname removed from her legal hyphenated Jolie-Pitt last name.
She asked to have her entire name changed from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie in her July 17 declaration, stating that her request was "personal."
An individual close to Jolie highlighted her desire to keep the family together after the name update.

"Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry," the official told publications in a statement. "She just wants everyone to heal.”
Vivienne's legal action comes after siblings Maddox, 24, and Zahara, 21, filed identical applications recently, alongside her sister Shiloh, 20, who formally removed "Pitt" from her last name after filing a request on her 18th birthday in 2024.
However, Vivienne has been using the Jolie surname exclusively for a considerable amount of time. After all, she was listed as "Vivienne Jolie" in a 2024 playbill for her role as her mother's secretary in the Broadway production of The Outsiders.
"Angelina is thrilled to be working on her first theatrical producing venture alongside her daughter, Vivienne," according to the program, "who is a theatre student and supporter of the arts."
Additionally, Angelina claims that her youngest daughter emulates another matriarch in the family.
"Viv reminds me of my mother," in 2023, Angelina told media reporters about her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand. " In that she isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives."
Following two years of marriage, the Oscar winner issued for divorce from Pitt in 2016. "She's very thoughtful and serious about theater and working hard to best understand how to contribute."
Angelina actually gave Vivienne credit for assisting her in reconnecting with her theatrical heritage.
"I studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute where I realized my first love, as a performer, was the theater. I had not found a way back until now," after agreeing to produce The Outsiders, she informed Deadline in 2023. "I hope to be able to contribute while continuing to learn from this amazing team, who I have been working with since my daughter brought me to see the show at La Jolla Playhouse."
