Anna Faris reveals she nearly lost her life to carbon monoxide poisoning while staying at a vacation rental.

Anna Faris is remembering a horrifying health scare. The actress from Scary Movie revealed how she and her family managed to survive after contracting carbon monoxide poisoning at a rental house amid Thanksgiving in 2019.

"There was a lawsuit, so I can't get too specific," in a Happy Sad Confused podcast's June 4 episode, Faris stated, "but what I can say is that carbon monoxide is odorless and it is deadly."

The House Bunny actress, who wed Michael Barrett in 2021, said that she had rented a home in Lake Tahoe, California, for the 2019 holidays with her now-husband and twelve other family members. The windows were closed and "all the heat going" inside the house.

However, when she and her family, particularly her father, "weren't feeling great," the situation deteriorated. The Hot Chick star reported that they were experiencing headaches, sleepiness, and lethargy. She also mentioned that they were experiencing "the opposite of euphoria."

At first, Faris, 49, and her family dismissed it as "altitude sickness and being hungover," but they "knew something was afoot."

Later on, Faris' mother advised her father, who was already dealing with serious health problems, to visit the hospital for a checkup.

"At the Lake Tahoe emergency room," the star from Overboard remembered, "they had the wisdom to check his carbon monoxide levels in his blood."

"Next thing you know, my husband and I were passed out," she added. "And we were being shook awake by firefighters. I have this hazy memory of being told how lucky I was by a firefighter. It was awful."

In the years following the tragedy, Faris—who has a 13-year-old son named Jack with her ex-husband Chris Pratt—said she and her family take safety measures to ensure they never go through the nightmare again, including carrying a portable carbon monoxide detector when traveling.

However, Faris indicated that years later, she still has worries, emphasizing that there aren't "a lot of [studies] on the long-term effects of carbon monoxide poisoning."

The accident was initially described by the Just Friends actress in November 2019. She praised rescuers for saving her and her family at the moment.

"I'm not quite sure how to express gratitude to the north Lake Tahoe fire department," at the moment, she posted a picture of a dining table with plates of Thanksgiving food on X (then Twitter). "We were saved from carbon monoxide- it’s a stupidly dramatic story but I’m feeling very fortunate."

In a statement published following the incident, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District stated that Faris and her family were "lucky to be alive."

"We are so thankful to report that this holiday disaster was averted," according to People, North Tahoe Fire Chief Mike Schwartz made a statement. "Situational awareness is so important. Whether you are at home or traveling, it is important ensure that smoke and CO alarms are in working order anywhere you stay."
