As 2023 arrives, recalibrate
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on December 24, 2022, 9:18 AMAs 2023 arrives, recalibrate. “Ndo na-ala uwa azi” [an apology soothes all pains] is an Igbo proverb. When you work with someone who can never be wrong because s/he uses absolute power to make a wrong to become “right”, recalibrate.
Comment: Great advice you have there, however my concern is on the pronunciation of that "azi" in the proverb. Majority of modern Igbo people don't know the meaning of Azikiwe, umuazi and aziekwuotu. We are handicapped with technological race to catch the world, without knowing that we are the World.
Kindly peruse the objects of one of my striving platforms to recalibrating Igbo Language, cultural practices and globalisation in the emerging world of technology. Peharps, when your busy schedule permits, we shall be glad to have you join us in the innermost caucus of Uwandiigbo.orgMy Response: I think we need to have Igbo alphabets here as approved by Prof FC Ogbalu committee of the 1978 Igbo convention where they laid down the new Igbo alphabets. That "i" should have something on top, pulling it backward to differentiate it from azi. After 1983, the “a b ch” … was solidified and Igbo mkpuruedemede (the alphabets) became complete (note, the “u’ should have dots underneath). But those are yet to become common in web browsers, servers, repositories, etc to enable platform integrations in Google, Facebook, etc. Yours truly was a spectacular Igbo student in secondary school and WAEC validated it with “Distinction”.
