Backstreet Boys throw their hat in the ring for the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The Backstreet Boys' one musical wish is coming true. The boy band is continuing their journey into The Millennium residency in Las Vegas is planning to perform their nostalgic set list and matching costumes at the 2027 Super Bowl, another significant event.

“What do you guys think? Backstreet Boys: 2027 Super Bowl Halftime,” a fan clip from @jpasc24 claims that on February 11, during their performance at the Las Vegas sphere, AJ Mclean asked the audience. “Let’s make it happen! I mean, why not? It’s in Los Angeles, it’s right down the street.”

The vocalists of "Shape of My Heart," who also include Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, and Kevin Richardson, are excited to play a medley at the big game next year, but they weren't always receptive to the idea. In fact, Nick previously disclosed that the band sung the national anthem instead of taking the stage as the 2001 Super Bowl's headlining act.

“At the time, we loved the Whitney Houston rendition of the national anthem. And for us, we got the choice and we passed on the halftime,” in 2021, the 46-year-old informed media reporters. “But it was a memorable experience for everyone, and I like to say we did a really good job at the national anthem.”

He additionally stated that he would want to perform on stage with fellow boy band *NSYNC, who costarred with Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly in that year's halftime show, for doing "a great job" during their set.

“That again is going back to the era we came from, the late ‘90s,” Nick clarified. “It was a really beautiful time, and I think everybody wants that again. They want that feeling coming out of this, everything that we have gone through together and society for the past year and a half.”

He added, “We want to be a part of that story, of love and growth and just coming out of the dark. I think that's why this event is so special to us.”

The Backstreet Boys are definitely voting to be included in halftime history, and they're not hiding it.

The band participated in two advertisements during the 2026 Super Bowl on February 8 to raise awareness: a T-Mobile commercial that used their hit song, "I Want It That Way," to sell consumers a new phone plan, and a Coinbase karaoke session using "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)."

What do they feel about going on tour with *NSYNC to get a double dose of nostalgia? They appear to still be receptive to the concept.

“They haven’t done something in over 22 years," last February, AJ informed media outlets about *NSYNC's tour plan. “We’re gonna keep doing what we do. No one knows what the future holds. We'll see what happens.”
