Bruce Campbell Reveals He Has 5 Years to Live Following Cancer Diagnosis.
Bruce Campbell's health is a devastating truth. The Evil Dead actor revealed his prognosis six months after disclosing his cancer diagnosis, saying his doctors had given him five years to live, "give or take."
“I’m in a five-year prognosis,” following a recent visit on The Adam Carolla Show, Campbell stated. “With the type of cancer that I have, which I don’t want to get into, the current thing is a five-year deal.”
However, the 68-year-old isn't letting that figure stop him from making the most of his remaining time.

“It’s a fascinating thing that takes place because [cancer] messes with your head, too. I’ve decided though, pretty specifically, to live with it, not die from it,” he clarified. “You can go down a massive rabbit hole. The cancer rabbit hole is enormous. You can go into focus groups of 10,000 guys who have exactly what you have. I won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
Rather, he is devoting himself to his job, which involves advertising his most recent movie, Ernie & Emma.
“When I promote this movie, I have nothing. I’m free and clear when I promote this movie,” Campbell remarked. “You have to make this decision of, ‘Oh OK, but do I have to stop everything I’m doing because of this?’ Well no. So, it’s a sort of whack-a-mole life, literally.”
“Cancer compromises s--t inside your body,” he continued. “You don’t die from cancer; you die from what cancer does to you. It does weird s--t and then you address it and move on.”
The actor from Army of Darkness revealed that in March, he received a diagnosis of "a type of cancer that's 'treatable' not 'curable."
"I apologize if that's a shock—it was to me too," in a statement posted on X on March 3, he added. "The good news is, I'm not gonna go into any more detail. I'm posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change—appearances and cons and work in general need to take back seat to treatment."
In order to "get ahead of this information in case false information gets out," rather than to "enlist sympathy," Campbell explained that he was disclosing his diagnosis to the public. He reassured followers that they need "fear not" about his illness.
"I am a tough old son-of-a-b---h and I have great support," he said, "so I expect to be around a while."
