Dan Aykroyd wants to give his fans his best effort. For this reason, he is delaying the publication of his first book, Soulhider, which was scheduled for this autumn.
“Two weeks ago, I underwent emergency foot surgery to clean out an infection,” the Ghostbusters star posted on Instagram on September 12. “Recovery time for this prevents me from touring with the book in October. I want to get out there because I am proud of it. So, we have postponed the release until May 18 when I expect to be fully healed.”

Aykroyd is confident that the payout will be worthwhile despite the longer wait time, mostly because he is so enthusiastic about the alien story he has written.
“I am not alone in believing aliens are real and there are multiple species with multiple machines,” the 74-year-old continued in his role. “I’ve personally seen two ships.”
In actuality, Soulhider was inspired by his personal experiences with the third kind and his conviction that we are not alone in this cosmos.
“What if a real, extra-terrestrial/dimensional powerful being approached you and against your will recruited you to act as their agent on earth?” Aykroyd, who also played an extraterrestrial in the 1993 film Coneheads, posed. “They threaten your family. There’s no running. You must do what they say.”

“This is what Soulhider is about,” he went on. “How the average guy might handle a prolonged interaction with these superbeings.”
Aykroyd has also contributed his voice to the novel's audiobook in addition to bringing his story to life on paper.
“I was reluctant to read the book myself for audio,” the Sneakers star acknowledged. “There are probably better actors, but I did it and was happy with the results. Perfect for long, lonely drives at night.”
Aykroyd apologized to individuals who had already purchased tickets to watch him perform on Soulhider's fall tour.
Ultimately, “in the meantime there will be more revelations about this subject,” he promised, “verifying we are far from being alone.”
