Ed Oliver is grieving a terrible loss. General manager Brandon Beane of the Buffalo Bills revealed that the NFL player's son Ed Oliver III, who he had with long-term companion Dymond Gladney, had passed away after a sad drowning incident. He was two years old.

“On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son,” on August 22, Beane posted a message on Instagram. “It’s an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”

As per a report released by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Oliver III passed away on June 28 after local officials discovered the little child "unresponsive" in a swimming pool at a residence outside of Houston, Texas.

“The toddler was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased,” the statement went on. “This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the toddler’s family during this incredibly difficult time. The investigation is ongoing.”

Oliver, who was picked in 2019 as a defensive lineman, has played his whole NFL career with the Bills. He is also the father of Gladney's daughter Ava. Josh Allen, the team's quarterback, discussed the event after learning of Oliver III's death.

“First off, I want to say thank you to the ones that knew about it and allowed him to have his moment and his time. It’s very sad,” at a news conference on August 22, Allen informed media outlets. “And, you know how it came out—it makes me very, very sad and angry at the same time.”

Allen, who is married to Hailee Steinfeld and has a 4-month-old daughter named Harper, said that the Bills family will continue to support their buddy in his time of need even if he didn't like how the information of Oliver III's demise came to light.

“Obviously, very unfortunate what happened. And as a teammate of him and as someone in this locker room, all we can do is love on him,” Allen went on to say. “There's nothing that you can say to make the situation any better except being there for him in whatever ways he needs. And that's what we're going to continue to do. And that's what teammates do.”

He continued, “We love up on each other and try to hold each other up when we're down.”

Allen, 30, expressed that he "can't imagine" what his buddy is going through, but he is amazed that Oliver, who attended training camp after the incident, is still supporting the squad despite his sadness.

“I couldn’t imagine the strength that it takes to do that,” Allen revealed. “And for him to be that strong for himself and his family. I can’t speak enough about it."

"He's a strong man," he added.
