Jay-Z is revealing more. Jay described his mental condition throughout the accusations, stating that 2025 left him "heartbroken by everything that occurred," following an anonymous accuser's December 2024 lawsuit, which was dropped two months later, accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean "Diddy" Combs.
“That whole [lawsuit thing], that s--t took a lot out of me,” in the interview released on March 24, he sated to GQ. “I was angry. I haven’t been that angry in a long time, uncontrollable anger. You don’t put that on someone—that’s a thing that you better be super sure. It used to be like that. You had to be super sure before you put those kinds of things on a person. Especially a person like me.”
The 56-year-old continued by describing the "kind of rules" he had always adhered to, even as a young child.
“There was a line: no women, no kids,” he went on. “You hear those sayings, but those are the things that I took from the street. We lived and died by that. So, it’s strict for me, like it meant a lot to me.”
Jay (actual name Shawn Carter) took the whole thing "really hard," but he never lost faith. He remarked, "I knew that we were going to walk through that because, first of all, it's not true." “And the truth, at the end of the day, still reigns supreme.”

The Reasonable Doubt singer is altering his strategy for the upcoming year; in fact, his interview with GQ was his first in many years.
“It was just like, ‘Alright man, we played enough defense,’” he clarified. “2026 is all offense.”
While the lawsuit against Jay and Diddy was eventually dropped by the anonymous accuser in February 2025, Jay was vocal with his vehement denial of the charges throughout the process.
He specifically highlighted the stress the charges were placing on his and Beyoncé's children, including his 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and their 7-year-old twins Rumi and Sir at the time of the lawsuit.
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” in December 2024, Jay told news organizations in a statement. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”
He added, “I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.”
Jay denounced the "frivolous, fictitious, and appalling allegations" in a statement after the lawsuit was resolved.
“This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims,” the Feb. 2025 statement went on. “I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed."
