Lorna Luft, daughter of Wizard of Oz legend Judy Garland, shares her thoughts on the success of Wicked.

When new generations are introduced to the amazing realm of Oz, Judy Garland's family is ecstatic. The success of Wicked, which is set in the same cinematic universe as her mother's legendary film, has made Lorna Luft, the daughter of the late Wizard of Oz star and the late film producer Sidney Luft, quite happy.

"I am so pleased for everyone on Wicked," at the Red Diamond 95th Anniversary Gala on November 20 at The Pierre Hotel in New York City, she made an exclusive revelation. "Jon Chu is amazing. Cynthia [Erivo] and Ariana [Grande] and everybody in that film, they're a separate entity, OK? And they have their own story and their own visit with Oz."

"But I think they will agree with me," Lorna, 73, went on. "Jeff [Goldblum] and Michelle [Yeoh] and everyone affected by going to Oz and joining the Oz family is quite remarkable."

The Grease 2 actress ultimately mentioned the author of the books that both Wicked and The Wizard of Oz are inspired by, despite the fact that she obviously loves the actors.

"I think that we all have one person to thank," she stated, "and that's L. Frank Baum for writing the books."

Lorna firmly replied, "Absolutely, yes!" when asked if she intended to see Wicked: For Good.

Lorna also described how, as a little child, she saw her mother portray Dorothy in the 1939 movie, which is renowned for switching from black and white to color.

"I remember that when I first saw it, I was quite small," she revealed. "I didn't see it on a color TV, so I didn't quite [understand], but I understood those monkeys, and I got hysterical."

"My mom was in New York, and she called and she got a hysterical child on the phone saying, 'The monkeys took you to New York?!'" Lorna grinned and went on, "and she said, 'I'm never letting the children see that movie without me ever again.'"
