Michael B. Jordan’s Oscars Best Actor speech was pure perfection.
At the 2026 Oscars, Michael B. Jordan turns from a sinner to a winner. As he took his Best Actor statuette at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 15, the Sinners star received a resounding reception for his dual roles as twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the horror film, winning him his first-ever Academy Award.
“Thank you, everybody in this room and everybody at home, for supporting me over my career. I feel it,” he made this statement during Conan O'Brien's ceremony. “I know you guys want me to do well, and I want to do that because you guys bet on me, so thank you for keep betting on me. I'm gonna keep stepping up, and I'm gonna keep being the best version of myself I can be."
Additionally, Michael, who was nominated alongside Timothée Chalamet from Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio from One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke from Blue Moon, and Wagner Moura from The Secret Agent, gave special thanks to his parents, especially his father, who went abroad to see his son's professional success.

"Y'all know how I feel about my mother, and my father's here," he added. "My dad came in from Ghana to be here."
With his victory, the 39-year-old becomes the sixth Black actor to win Best Actor, following in the footsteps of Will Smith, Forest Whitaker, Jamie Foxx, Sidney Poitier, and Denzel Washington. He acknowledged both his forebears and Halle Berry, the first Black woman to win Best Actress, calling the pioneering trio "giants."
Michael, 39, was leading the Best Actor competition going into Oscar night. After all, only two weeks prior, the All My Children alumnus was recognized at the 2026 Actor Awards, screaming out his fellow candidates after taking the stage.
“I'm so honored and privileged to be nominated in categories with people and actors and humans that I love,” at that point in time, he stated. “I love their work and what you contribute to our craft. This ride has been unbelievable.”
Michael also highlighted the cooperative spirit on site by praising the Ryan Coogler film's cast and crew throughout award season.
“I think it’s one of those things where you all get on set and everybody is collectively doing the work together and everybody’s vibing off one another,” in January, he informed media outlets. “It’s a family environment.”
Michael added, "We're really grateful and happy that everybody still loves the work that we've done." The film's success has further deepened his affection for the endeavor.
