Nigeria has announced the ratification of Nigeria’s membership of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), beating the December 5 deadline: “The Federal Executive Council (FEC) today (Wednesday) Ratified Nigeria’s membership of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), ahead of the December 5, 2020 deadline. The AfCFTA Agreement comes into effect on the 1st of January 2021,” a statement from Nigerian government said.

Now, in the spirit of AfCFTA, let us open the land borders, at least for exports. Mr. President, do this for your nation because many small manufacturers who serve Benin Republic, Togo and Southern Cameroon, Chad, etc are going under. Just do it to avoid this own-goal we have scored!
