Paul Rudd says he got arrested twice when he was a young man.

Paul Rudd is in legal peril. The This Is 40 star acknowledged that he had been afoul of the law on two different occasions before to becoming well-known.

“One time I was in a car, I was riding shotgun and my friend Mike was driving and we had water guns and there was a car next to us—our friends,” from the Friends Keep Secrets podcast on May 19, he revealed this to Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky. “They had them, too. We were just having a water gun fight.”

The policeman who stopped the 16-year-old and his friends didn't quite see it that way, even if they "were just being rascals."

“Mike pulls over and he has a gun trained on us,” Paul described the police officer. “And he comes walking around the side and he says, ‘Alright, boy. Slowly, real slowly, hand over that water gun. And you better pray it’s a water gun.’”

“And he has a gun on me,” the Ant-Man actor was anxious. “I’m like 16.”

Paul, 57, disclosed that Mike received a ticket for dangerous driving after he and Mike turned over the water guns because the teenagers seemed to veer into a different lane. Paul also didn't exactly escape punishment. He was cited for aiding and abetting reckless driving, after all.

“Maybe he was just trying to teach us a lesson,” Paul observed, but “I wound up having to go to court for that.”

What about his second transgression?

“And then the other time I was in college my freshman year and I killed someone,” he made a joke. “And let me tell you something that was hard to get out of.”

The actor from The Perks of Being a Wallflower was found in possession of alcohol before the legal drinking age of 21, even if he did not really kill anyone.

“I was kind of new to drinking, I’ll be honest with you,” he remembered. “And cops came around and I was underage and so I just dumped it.”

Paul, who is married to Julie Yaeger and has two children, Jack, 17, and Darby, 13, stated that although he wasn't "technically" arrested, he "did have to go do community service" after a police officer discovered him attempting to destroy the evidence.

While completing his community service hours at the Boys & Girls Club, Paul did receive a traditional beating.

Paul reported that a "kid kicked my ass" after the students forced counselors to participate in what was meant to be a harmless boxing exercise.

However, he made it clear that there were no animosities. “Even then,” he went on to say, “I’m like, ‘that was really funny.’”
