PayPal joins the job cut paralysis as 2,000 workers depart: "PayPal will lay off 2,000 full-time employees, or 7% of its workforce, President and CEO Dan Schulman announced Tuesday. The news came just hours after software provider HubSpot said it would eliminate 500 positions, and in the same month that Google, Microsoft (LinkedIn's parent company), IBM and Salesforce each announced thousands of job cuts. Unlike some of its peers, however, PayPal bested earnings and revenue expectations in the third quarter, and has raised its earnings guidance for the fiscal year, despite underperforming in Q4."
