Prince William Reveals the Surprising Stage Name He Used During His Brief DJ Stint.

At one point, Prince William created a new persona for himself. The Prince of Wales disclosed that he attempted to become a DJ when he was younger, even earning a separate title in the process.

“I went through a phase where I wanted to be a DJ, which didn't go very well,” on The Graham Norton Show on October 23, William came clean. “And I came up with a name. I was called ‘DJ Xara’ with an X.”

To the amusement of his fellow red coach companions Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin, and Hannah Waddingham, the 44-year-old acknowledged that "it wasn't good."

“DJ Zara?” Hannah inquired. “That’s rubbish.”

William noted that he crossed his hands and placed the letter "X" in front of "Xara," which piqued Cate's interest in the spelling.

“And was that one of your moves?” when Cate inquired about the gesture, William joked, “No, I didn't do the move.”

He chuckled. “It rapidly became very uncool.”

William acknowledged that his career as a DJ was brief despite his best efforts, saying, "I never got that good."

The future King of England, however, had other non-royal pursuits in mind when he was younger. He also believed that he "could make a good policeman," and Graham noted that William's height would have been a benefit.

“Exactly,” the prince chuckled. “Being a policeman, I thought was quite cool.”

William, who has three children with Kate Middleton—Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8—also disclosed that the family has recently developed a new, non-royal obsession: Celebrity Traitors.

“I love it, the family love it,” he was ecstatic. “Charlotte and Louis are obsessed with it. It’s really good telly.”

William revealed that he met contestant Ross Kemp from the most current U.K. season after the first show aired, demonstrating that even a prince may be thrilled to meet a celebrity (traitor).

“I couldn’t help but try—in the most appropriate way—to touch him to see what reaction I got from him,” William added. “Turns out he was really jumpy!”
