Randy Travis Creates Unforgettable Moment for Cancer Patient.
One of Randy Travis's fans will always be impacted by his influence. When he was first asked to participate on a virtual call, the "Forever and Ever, Amen" singer went beyond what was expected by making a surprise visit to the cancer patient's bedside, fulfilling her lifetime desire of seeing him.
"We thought, ‘We can do one better than a Zoom,’” in a collaborative interview, Randy's wife Mary Travis provided an explanation to ABC 7 Chicago. “We'll just zoom on up to Zion, so here we are."
Additionally, Travis, who had a near-fatal stroke in 2013, found it particularly necessary to physically go from Texas to Illinois. Mary pointed out that “The patient that we’re seeing today has the same heart, the same attitude, that Randy does—and that’s to choose joy over defeat.”

Randy, 67, had the opportunity to autograph a poster that the patient's family claimed she had treasured throughout the years.
“His fiber is to touch lives,” Mary gushed about her eleven-year hubby. “He said, ‘If I can touch one life, then I feel like I've done my job.’"
Inspired by how the Grammy winner has dealt with the long-term effects of his stroke, which left him unable to move or talk, Randy first got in touch with the Chicago, Illinois, branch of the nonprofit group City of Hope.
"The whole third midsection of Randy’s left brain was affected, which is speaking, writing and reading,” in 2019, Mary informed People. "But each day there’s something new that he says or does."
And despite all these years, the pair, who were friends for thirty years before falling in love, have maintained their love by using their "seventh sense" to communicate.
"I tell him all the time, ‘You speak volumes in your silence,'" Mary revealed. "In his silence, he can make me feel like a princess. I feel so blessed to get to walk beside him through this."
She went on to say, “I don’t think he’s ever seen himself as a victim.”
