The biggest problem in Nigeria

Good People, the biggest problem in Nigeria is that Nigerians are not working as a TEAM. When they worked together as one people, they prospered and did well. Lagos was open. Enugu was open. Kano was open. Today, I cannot recognize the nation from what it was 20 years ago. People insult other tribes with reckless abandon. WhatsApp Groups are now chambers of tribal hatreds and "Nigeria" as a nation has lost relevance. Nigeria is truly unfortunate!
Comment: When did we ever work as a team though? Outside the Barracks, team work has always been a myth unless we allude to murtala and the 80s era.
My Response: In 1952, Mallam Umaru Altine won an election in Enugu, and was reelected in Enugu as the city’s first mayor. Mallam was a descendant of the Sokoto caliphate who arrived in Enugu with his cows. The citizens gave him land to settle, and he decided to make Enugu home. During elections, his contestants did not have time to campaign, but he was dutiful. They made him their major. That was Nigeria. Today, his name would have disqualified him from the ballot box. Nigeria was a TEAM then.
As not far as the late 1990s, in FUT Owerri, with more than 90% SS/SE students, we voted for Onifade from Oyo State as SUG President. His Igbo contestants were terrible on the Manifesto Day. He mounted the podium as least favourable but when he finished speaking, we saw the leader. He won hands down. Today, I'm not sure if that is possible.
So, there used to be a Team Nigeria anchored on merit. Today, it is your name that matters; no one cares whatever!
