The World of Fake News

It is quite funny, but so unfortunate that many people are quick to hear negative news than positive ones. It is unimaginable, especially when they have somebody in mind, whom they want to be dead as soon as possible. That makes me to wonder if we are still humans, or beasts. Does God even answer such a prayer, when he wants everyone to have an expected end?

"Always remember...Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots."~~Ziad K. Abdelnour

Of course, people are told what they want to hear. People prefer to circulate information that has to do with tragedy than normal stories. They are curious to know more about propaganda, and some are even excited about such stories which may not be true.

"However let's turn the coin, what if we choose not to broadcast the bad news but choose to broadcast mostly good news? How would this affect our life?"~~Tracy Sillato

FAKE NEWS AND HATE SPEECH

Fake News and Hate Speech are the twin sisters of Destruction that most countries are wary of. On different websites, and even in our online platforms, fake news have become the order of the day. Of course, these fake news, and rumors are carried by haters. Haters can only reproduce hate, and so, hate speech develops. Fake news are lies! They are events which never happened! They appear real, but are not.

In Russia, Fake news is seen as any information that show blatant disrespect for the state, and could carry a jail term of 15 days. According to The Washington Post, Publications that repeatedly spread ''unreliable'' information which undermines social order, may face fines of up to $23,000, and repeat offenders could spend time in jail

The Moscow Times reports that Online news outlets and users that spread 'fake news' will face fines of up-to 1.5 million rubles ($22,900) for repeat offenses. Insulting State Symbols and the authorities, including Putin will carry a fine of up-to 300,000 rubles and 15 days in jail for repeat offenses.

Some other countries have also enacted some laws to guide against fake news and hate speech. Countries like France, Germany, Malaysia, and even the European Union, have put up measures to censor certain information on the internet, especially from such platforms like Facebook, etc. In Malaysia, the previous government outlawed fake news, and made it a crime punishable by a fine of 500,000 Malaysian ringgit or six years' imprisonment , or both. In other countries like Singapore and Nigeria, fake news and hate speech, are frowned at.

In conclusion, instead of being quick at judging everything that comes our way, we should learn to reflect on how true they are. Let us be mindful of what we see, even on the electronic and print media. We should try to put ourselves in others' shoes. Why should we give out hate if we do not want to be hated? Why should we make false claims if we do not want our reputation to be tarnished? Why should we use a day to destroy all we have laboured to achieve for years?

Let's look very well, before we leap. We should not be quick to jump at conclusions, without proper consultations. Of course, a daughter-in-law who always prays to marry a man whose mother is dead, should not expect to be alive when her son wants to get married. The law of Karma will always prevail, for all of us will reap what we sow. Therefore, let us do to others, what we want others to do to us.
