We have two major types of capital: social capital and financial capital. As an entrepreneur or businessperson, to unlock financial capital from investors, work hard to invest in your social capital (shared values, networks, relationships, etc).
In this age of Davido, everyone must understand that you must first invest in society’s aggregate social capital before the world will come with that financial capital when needed.
For social capital, you are the investor unlike the financial capital (money) which people invest in you. These two things are now related. Between the two, you can control the social capital; pay attention to it. Davido has a case study for all this week!

Comment: You discounted Intellectual capital, Political capital? It’s not a binary, we cannot afford to misrepresent ‘Davido Effect’, there are other forms, and they all work wonders too. Some even possess Spiritual capital.
The intriguing part is that with the number of people posting, reposting and commenting on Davido within this period, can we also put a price tag on the aggregate value financially? It could worth over N2 billion, much more than the amount under discussion, who benefits here? The same generous person! It is not black or white, there are webs of interconnected, interdependent, intrinsic and extrinsic forces in play.
Let me not go further, there are many ways to deconstruct and unpack the whole thing, our world is much more complex than we think…
Value capturing remains a moving target.
My Response: Note I wrote “major types”. What people call political capital is a subset of social capital or financial capital? I am not sure you can assume political capital without either social or financial capital. But you do not need political capital to get into any of those. For IP capital, I see it as a component of both social and financial capital. Your social capital embodies your knowledge, etc. More so, financial capital includes IP capital. For example, Coca Cola’s financial capital is dominated by its IP (the secret sauce of Coke).
Comment #1 responds: Ndubuisi, not exactly, if we define or interpret every form of capital in this light, we could miseducate a generation. When it comes to what entails what, whether simultaneously or subsequently, a new body of knowledge is up for debate…
Another user follows: Now, my suspicion has been confirmed… You are most definitely a 4 Dimensional Thinker.
Nonetheless, I side with the Prof that Political Capital is a subset of Social Capital for the fact that Politics is NOT a fundamental principle and hence is not indispensable. It’s a Social Construct and hence a subset of it, therefore it cannot hold as a Fundamental Principle.
The four basic capital forms from which other forms of capital resources can be obtained, based on my own limited understanding, are “Material Capital” (which includes but not limited to Financial/Monetary Capital etc), “Intellectual Capital” (basically Data and Information), “Social Capital” (Emotional Resources, etc) and “Spiritual Capital” (from which Moral Resources is obtained).
