Shares of Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Wistron Corporation surged nearly 10% on Wednesday after the company officially opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility dedicated to building artificial intelligence servers for Nvidia, marking another major milestone in the reshoring of AI infrastructure production to the United States.
The stock rose 9.7% after Wistron unveiled its D1 AI Smart Facility in Fort Worth, Texas, a 324,000-square-foot manufacturing complex backed by approximately $700 million in investment. The facility will initially manufacture Nvidia’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip systems before expanding production to include the company’s next-generation Vera Rubin Superchip platform, one of the industry’s most anticipated AI computing architectures.
The opening underscores the accelerating buildout of AI infrastructure across the United States as Nvidia and its manufacturing partners race to meet unprecedented global demand for AI servers powering hyperscale data centers, sovereign AI projects and enterprise artificial intelligence deployments.

“The next couple of years will make this one of our most important locations as we build AI infrastructure here in the United States,” Wistron Chairman Simon Lin said during the launch.
The Texas facility represents Wistron’s first manufacturing base in the United States and positions the company more directly within Nvidia’s rapidly expanding domestic supply chain, which has become increasingly important amid geopolitical tensions, supply-chain diversification efforts and U.S. industrial policy encouraging advanced technology manufacturing at home.
Initially, the factory will assemble systems built around Nvidia’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, the company’s flagship AI platform designed to train and run increasingly complex generative AI models.
Production will later transition to Nvidia’s Vera Rubin Superchip, the successor architecture expected to deliver significant improvements in computing performance, memory bandwidth and energy efficiency for next-generation AI workloads.
The servers produced at the facility will integrate into Nvidia’s DSX AI infrastructure, enabling customers to deploy large-scale AI factories designed to support cloud computing providers, research institutions, governments and enterprise customers.
Unlike traditional data centers, AI factories are purpose-built facilities optimized to generate intelligence by processing enormous volumes of data using advanced graphics processing units (GPUs). They have become the foundational infrastructure behind generative AI applications, autonomous systems, scientific computing and large language models.
Wistron said the Fort Worth operation introduces a new manufacturing model centered on digital production systems, localized supply chains and energy-efficient operations, reflecting the increasing complexity of AI hardware manufacturing.
Nvidia founder and Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said demand for AI infrastructure continues to accelerate at an unprecedented pace.
“Demand for AI factories, the engine of this next industrial revolution, is extraordinary, and they must be built everywhere,” Huang said.
The facility also highlights the growing role of Taiwanese manufacturers in America’s AI infrastructure expansion. Taiwan remains the world’s dominant hub for advanced semiconductor manufacturing and electronics assembly, but companies from the island have increasingly shifted production to the United States as customers seek geographically diversified supply chains and governments encourage domestic manufacturing of strategic technologies.
Wistron’s investment follows TSMC’s recent decision to significantly expand its Arizona semiconductor operations, while Foxconn, Quanta Computer, Inventec and other Taiwanese technology companies have also been increasing their U.S. manufacturing presence.
Global technology companies are making efforts to reduce reliance on Asia-centric supply chains while positioning production closer to major cloud providers and enterprise customers in North America.
For Nvidia, expanding domestic manufacturing capacity has become a strategic priority as demand for its AI systems continues to outstrip supply. The company has built an extensive U.S. manufacturing ecosystem that now spans 43 states, supported by partners including Wistron, TSMC and Foxconn.
According to Nvidia, its U.S. manufacturing ecosystem is expected to contribute approximately $485 billion to U.S. gross domestic product in 2026, underscoring the growing economic significance of AI infrastructure investment. The Fort Worth facility is expected to serve as the centerpiece of Wistron’s U.S. manufacturing strategy, providing assembly, testing and integration capabilities for Nvidia’s most advanced AI systems while supporting the broader expansion of domestic AI infrastructure.
The investment also strengthens Texas’ position as one of the fastest-growing AI manufacturing hubs in the United States, joining a wave of semiconductor, server and data-center projects that have transformed the state into a key destination for advanced technology investment.
