I want to thank the Abia State House of Assembly, The Governor, and leaders of our state that the Bill to stop payment of pensions to former governors and their deputies in the state, has passed. The Bill, titled “A Bill (H.A.B 11:) for a Law to Revoke The Abia State Governors and Deputy Governors Pensions Law No 4 of 2001 and for other Matters connected in addition to that”, sends a clear message that Abia means business.
Send it so that Mr. Governor will put it in the books. We want to see “Abia State Governors and Deputy Governor’s (Repeal) Law 2024” in action. We are sure that our ex-governors and deputies will not be begging as there are still jobs in this world they can apply for to earn incomes.
Mr. Speaker, Mr Emmanuel Emeruwa, thanks for the leadership there. I also want to thank members of the state house of assembly for the efforts in our state. As I said when I met many of you during Christmas, our obligation must be to the Abia People.
