DStv Enters Exclusive Partnership with Paga for Mobile Payment of Subscription

It is true: No need to travel with cash.  Pagatech the creator of  Paga – an innovative, open, secure, and interoperable mobile payments platform that allows any person who has a mobile phone to transact electronically – thus turning the mobile phone into an electronic wallet is on roll.

They released a statement over the last few days announcing a partnership with DStv. The release in part:

DStv and Paga announce an exclusive partnership with respect to mobile payment of DStv subscriptions. DStv is the leading provider of multi-channel pay television in Africa. Paga is a pioneering mobile money platform licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Paga launched in February 2011 with four products to meet the unique needs of Nigeria: money transfer to any Nigerian with a mobile phone, bill payments, mobile phone airtime top-up, and merchant payments.

DStv and Paga will work exclusively with each other within their respective categories – Paga offering bill collections in the pay television category only for DStv, and DStv leveraging only Paga for mobile payment collections.

With this partnership Paga brings DStv subscription payments to every corner of the country through a combined network of DStv retail agents and Paga’s agents. Additionally customers can also choose to pay subscriptions directly from their mobile phone using Paga – anywhere, anytime. All DStv subscriptions paid on Paga are credited in real-time with service restored immediately.
