Africa Loses a Legend - Harvard Prof. Juma is dead
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on December 15, 2017, 2:23 PM
Kenyan born Harvard professor Calestous Juma is dead. He has been a mentor over the years since I met him in MIT in 2010 during a conference. When I was planning to join Carnegie Mellon University from Analog Devices, I spoke with him asking for his directions. I had told him that my mind was in business, but I wanted my children to know that I could overcome America: worked in the best companies and taught in the best universities. So, no matter what they throw before them, they should know that dad overcame.
He was very accessible, assisting in many ways. Once in a while, he would check in, throwing some encouraging words. His last words to me: "You're a great role model. Keep up the commitment to excellence!".
This is very sad. Prof Juma lived as a blessing to our continent, and may his soul rest in perfect peace.
