Anne Hathaway Makes Light of Backwards Maternity Outfit Mistake.
With a regal gait, Anne Hathaway owns a clothing mistake. In fact, viewers noted that the Princess Diaries actress appeared to have worn the long-sleeved red peplum jumpsuit backwards when she went out in New York City on June 30. The actress recently revealed that she is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman.
In a July 1 Instagram video, Hathaway, who accessorized the ensemble with matching red heels, a gold choker, and black cat-eye sunglasses, playfully admitted to the fashion faux pas.
The Odyssey actress exclaimed, "I did?" after displaying photos of several articles highlighting the possible mistake. Then, she revealed her revelation, "I did... I did."

Hathaway, who was wearing a similar cherry red outfit in the video, captioned the photo with emojis of an open mouth, a smile, and a melting face.
Erin Walsh, the Mother Mary star's stylist, claims that the jumpsuit is from Ashlyn New York's Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Runway photographs show that Hathaway actually wore the ensemble backward when she adjusted the scoop neckline in the front.
Fans applauded Hathaway's all-red ensemble, regardless of whether the soon-to-be mother-of-three's runway twist was deliberate.
"This was such a Queen Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi move," one commenter made reference to her role from Princess Diaries, while another made a play on a quote from Devil Wears Prada. "Are you wearing the—the Ashlyn jumpsuit backwards? Yeah, I am."
One fan, however, underlined that "backward is the new forward."
Hathaway, who has two children with Shulman—Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6—is thankful for her motherhood experience thus far as she continues to flaunt her pregnant style.
"I just feel very lucky," in April, Hathaway informed People. "I know that not everybody who wants to be a parent gets to be. I’m just blown away by how fortunate I am. It went really well for me twice, and that’s really lucky."
As she stated, "Being a mom is just this beautiful ongoing poem that I get to live inside of."
The Oscar winner's wardrobe has even been influenced by being a mother to two boys.
"I’m a tomboy! I love that being a boy mom has really informed my fashion," Hathaway clarified. "I have to always be able to go from a serious business meeting to, like, a basketball court. You have to be able to play pickup basketball at any point, in any outfit. So [I tell myself]: When you get dressed in the morning, dress wisely because you 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you probably by the end of breakfast."
