Bonnie Tyler has been admitted to a hospital in Portugal for emergency intestinal surgery.
After a terrifying experience, Bonnie Tyler is recuperating. The singer of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was admitted to the hospital because to an unidentified intestinal problem that needed to be treated right away, according to information posted on her official website on May 6.
“We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery,” go over the statement. “The surgery went well and she is now recuperating.”
“We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news,” the statement added, “and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”

The 74-year-old, who has been married to husband Robert Sullivan since 1973, was getting ready to embark on her 2026 European tour and needed to be sure she would be well enough to do so shortly before her procedure.
"I'm fit enough at the moment, touch wood, and I'm really enjoying doing the shows,” in March, Bonnie informed Hello! “I’m still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band, and if you've got your health, you've got everything.”
The singer of "Holding Out for a Hero" revealed that she was practicing 20 minutes of Pilates every day to keep her body strong, saying it was "something I can do in my hotel rooms."
"I have had problems with my knees; I didn't have new knees, I had what they call washouts [a surgical knee procedure], which turned out to be very successful,” she clarified. “So, hopefully that will last for a long time."
The Grammy nominee says she still records "new material because my fans cry out for it" and enjoys playing both her new songs and her "old hit records" when she does go on tour.
Naturally, she exclaimed, "I still love singing them," in reference to her classics.
And the opportunity to perform a song like "Total Eclipse of the Heart" from 1983 is just as exciting now as it was when she first heard the iconic song from the 1980s.
“It just blew me away," Bonnie informed Hello!. "I don't like making videos—I prefer doing live shows—but it turned out to be magnificent. It was on heavy rotation on MTV."
