The family of Catherine O'Hara is thinking back on her final days. Michael P. O'Hara, the Schitt's Creek alum's brother, recalled a vivid dream about her prior to her death in January, saying it was their last goodbye.
"I always cherish the times I can meet with a loved one in the dream state," Michael stated in his Tip O The Iceberg podcast broadcast from April 6. "And I was hugging her, which was really beautiful. And I guess it was sort of a goodbye."
Michael observed that the dream served as a farewell gift because Catherine, who passed away at the age of 71 from a pulmonary embolism, "wasn't talking much in the end."
“She didn't really want to talk on the phone,” he described that moment in time. "And she didn't live close by, she's in Los Angeles.”
Following Catherine's "very unexpected and very, very sad" death, the screenwriter revealed that he had multiple dream visits from the Home Alone veteran.
"Since then, I've had a lovely dream where I was visiting her, and she was in a new house and it was being renovated and she was really busy choosing furniture and couches," he clarified. "And she said, 'You can sleep here anytime, Michael. You can come over and stay anytime.'"
"And it reminded me of when she was in Second City Television and I was apprenticing at the Windsor Arms Hotel," he went on to say. "I would go over and sleep over at her place some nights because she had an extra bedroom. Yeah, pretty cool. But yeah, it was beautiful. She was just so happy and very busy in the other world that she's now in."
Michael expressed gratitude for the ability to maintain a connection to "deceased loved ones" through dreams, emphasizing that even though Catherine is no longer among us, her memory lives on.
"We're all interconnected," he stated, "and the love continues no matter what. They're always with us."
