Lil Tjay’s lawyer has stated that the rapper had no involvement in the Offset shooting.

In response to Lil Tjay's arrest, his legal representatives are speaking out. The "In My Head" rapper's lawyer responded to her client being detained and charged by the Seminole Police Department following Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) being shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida on April 6.

In an Instagram post on April 6, Dawn Florio said that her team was "issuing this release in regard to" Lil Tjay's purported participation in the incident, which she said caused "non-life-threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of the Migos."

"Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting," the statement went on. "Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the occurrence of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors."

A representative for Lil Tjay and his lawyer was contacted by news organizations for comment, but they have not yet received a response.

In a statement released on April 7, the Seminole Police Department informed media that Lil Tjay, whose actual name is Tione Merritt, had been taken into custody on April 6 and "has been charged with disorderly conduct -- affray, a first-degree misdemeanor under Florida Statute."

"A second person detained at the scene has not been charged," the statement added. "The investigation to identify one or more additional persons involved in the incident is ongoing. The injured individual remains at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., with a non-life threatening injury."

As per jail records obtained by media outlets, he was also accused of driving a car without a valid license. He is awaiting trial and is free on a $3,000 bond for both allegations.

After the shooting, which happened in the resort's valet area at approximately 7:00 p.m. Offset's spokeswoman, ET, revealed details on the "Need It" singer's health. Offset has three children with his ex-girlfriend Cardi B in addition to three children from earlier relationships.

"We can confirm he was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care," in a statement on April 7, his representative notified news sources. "He is stable and being closely monitored."

The event occurred three years after Takeoff, a bandmate of Migos, was shot and died outside a Houston club while attending a party with uncle Quavo and other Migos member. The "Stir Fry" rapper is greatly affected by this event.

"It's hard for me to talk about s--t right now. I've never talked about this stuff. Seriously," in November 2023, he informed Variety. "Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this s--t is hard. That's why I don't, to be honest."

"Some things I don't ever tell nobody." he confirmed. "He's not here. That s--t feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it's fake. And I don't say nothing to nobody about it."
