Craig Conover is prepared for a closer look. In the first glimpse of his TV acting debut in Bravo's first-ever original scripted microdrama Charmed By a Southern Monster, the Southern Charm actor goes shirtless and exudes leading man fire.
Released Oct. 23, the preview shows Sewing Down South founder Craig shirtless in blue jeans, showing off his muscular build as he holds an axe. He stands before a plantation-style mansion with a menacing grin, while costar Nicole Mattox gives him a flirtatious look.
Craig's new job will also allow him to show a greater spectrum of emotions, even if the 36-year-old is never hesitant to add drama while competing against rivals Austen Kroll, Shep Rose, and the other Charmers.
"The series blends soapy romance, workplace rivalry and small-town mystery," based on the characterization of the network. "The story follows Maeve, a brilliant corporate fixer sent to convince and seduce Hunter, a rumored murderer, into selling his family’s estate."
But looks don't always match reality.
"But when she discovers that the town’s most feared man may actually be its most misunderstood," the logline added, "and the only person who can protect her from her dangerous ex-boyfriend, Maeve becomes entangled in Hunter’s world. As family secrets and a billion-dollar development deal threaten to unravel their growing connection, she must confront her past and decide how much she’s willing to risk for love."
Craig recently revealed the details of his recent career change, including what it was like to move from the theatrics of reality TV to scripted drama.
"I f--king love it," last month, he came clean to Bravo Insider. "It's because I always loved the production side of things, but I wanted to do more. I like that we shoot for 12 weeks and it's great. I love the projects."
Bravoholics need not fear, though, since Craig's newfound passion for acting does not imply that he will be departing Southern Charm anytime soon.
"I'm not going anywhere," he went on to say, "but I wanna do more. I love this business. So now they've been really supportive of me and just some scripted stuff, so it's fun. My favorite parts of this show is what I get to do all day at the movie, because it's collaborative, creative shooting."
Just a few days before Southern Charm returns for season 12 on Bravo on November 12, Charmed By a Southern Monster debuts on the Peacock app on Monday, November 9.
