Holiday happiness is being spread by Dolly Parton. After missing several recent appearances due to her health concerns, the "9 to 5" singer shared a joyous message on social media.
“Well, hey, it's Dolly here,” in a video uploaded to Instagram on November 27, she stated, “and I want to wish all of you and your family blessings this Thanksgiving.”
“I am so thankful for all of you and for the memories that we've shared through the years,” the 79-year-old went on. “So happy Thanksgiving to everyone and just know that I will always love you.”
Dolly has recently reduced her public appearances because of her health; thus, her video offers a unique look into her current life. The country music artist was honored for her Dollywood theme park earlier this month, but she was unable to attend her induction into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Hall of Fame. Instead, she sent a video greeting.
“I sure wish I could be with you in person today,” in a video posted on Dollywood's Instagram page on November 19, she stated, “but you probably heard that I been dealing with a few health challenges this fall, and my doctors told me to take it easy for just a little while.”
Days before, the Grammy winner was scheduled to take the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Governors Awards, but she was not present. She also made an appearance in a pre-recorded video on that occasion to express her gratitude to the Academy for her honorary Oscar.
“My mom and daddy showed me by example that the more you give, the more blessings come your way,” in her video message, Dolly stated. “And I have tried my whole life to live by their example. And I've been blessed more than I ever dreamed possible. Well, like this award tonight.”
