Donald Trump claimed that Elon Musk had gone “off the rails” following the tech CEO's expressed interest in starting a new political party.

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk's tense relationship has taken a new step when the Tesla CEO expressed his desire to launch the America party, a move that Trump denounced.
“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” on July 6, he posted on Truth Social. “He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States. The System seems not designed for them.”
Since Musk left his position as head of DOGE (the Department of Government Efficiency) in May, his relationship with Trump has grown shakier. Trump told reporters shortly afterward that while the two "had a great relationship," he was not sure whether it would last.
According to NBC News, he stated in the Oval Office on June 5 that he was "I'm very disappointed in Elon." "I have helped to Elon a lot."
Musk claimed hours later that he was largely responsible for the 2024 presidential election's result, which saw Trump and JD Vance defeat Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election,” he shared on X, “Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.”
"Such ingratitude," he wrote in a later post. Trump, however, has a different perspective.
Trump stated, "Elon was 'wearing thin,'" on his Truth Social platform, describing the dissolution of their collaboration. "I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!"
Musk quickly withdrew his negative remarks after. On X June 11, he said, "I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far."
