"During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated," in a statement, Megan's representative informed Complex. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available."
Days after making her Broadway debut as nightclub owner Zidler in the stage version of the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, Megan was hospitalized. Jim Broadbent played her role on screen.
After Bob the Drag Queen's theatrical engagement as Zidler ended on March 22, Megan takes control.
The 31-year-old made history by playing Zidler in a show for the first time as a female-identifying performer.
"Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor," Megan stated in a statement on February 26. "I've always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I'm excited to embrace."
"Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling," the Grammy winner went on to say that she's "up for the challenge."
Megan expressed her gratitude for being a part of the production, which has won 14 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, since it debuted on the Great White Way in 2019, after her debut performance on March 24.
"So grateful for this incredible cast & crew & everyone who worked so hard to make opening night a success!!" an Instagram video of her bowing onstage was labeled by her. "HOTTIES IM ON BROADWAY!!"
The finale of Megan's run is set for May 17.
