Alex Duong, known for his role in Blue Bloods, has passed away at 42 after a battle with cancer

Following his tragic death, Alex Duong is being remembered. The comedian, whose acting credits include Everybody Hates Chris, The Young and the Restless, and Blue Bloods, passed away on March 28 following a year-long fight with a rare type of cancer, according to a GoFundMe post by his friend Hilarie Steele. He was forty-two.

“With the heaviest hearts, we share that our dear Alex passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by love and dear friends,” the post on the crowdfunding page was written by Steele. “He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain.”

Steele added that although though Duong's illness was getting worse, he was still able to say farewell to his 5-year-old daughter Everest, whom he shared with his wife Christina, before he passed away. He said that he "treasured" his young girl "every moment since the day she was born."

“We are devastated,” the message went on, “but so grateful for the support, prayers and generosity you have all shown during this unimaginable time.”

According to an April Los Angeles Times feature, Duong was diagnosed in 2025 with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and severe type of cancer that attacks soft tissue, which ultimately caused him to lose eyesight in his left eye.

As per to the publication, Duong, a Door Guy at The Comedy Store, was scheduled to tour 41 states in 2025, accompanied at certain locations by Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng, prior to his diagnosis. As he dealt with his illness, he actually emphasized his comedic group as a source of support.

“Comedians always have each other’s backs when times are s--t,” the Los Angeles Times was informed. “We know how hard it is to pine and struggle and scrape by in this lifestyle, just so we can do these jokes and keep improving. It’s a beautiful thing to see in this world; it really is.”
