This weekend, Donald Trump will remain at the White House. The 79-year-old gave an explanation of why he eventually had to RSVP "No" to his eldest's wedding just days before his son Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding to socialite Bettina Anderson.

"While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina," in one of the numerous postings made on Truth Social on May 22, Trump tweeted, "circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so."

"I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time," Trump arrived at, concluding with a "Congratulations to Don and Bettina!"

Don Jr.'s wedding, scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2026, will take place on a small island in the Bahamas with his father's approval, according to several sites. But the couple tied the knot before the ceremony. According to a marriage certificate that People was able to get, Don Jr. and Bettina officially tied the knot on May 21. Kristina Anderson McPherson, the model's twin sister, was their witness.

This marks the start of the 48-year-old's second marriage after a 12-year union with Vanessa Trump, 48, with whom he had children, including 19-year-old Kai Madison Trump, 17-year-old Donald Trump III, 14-year-old Tristan Milos Trump, 13-year-old Spencer Frederick Trump, 13, and 11-year-old Chloe Sophia Trump, before their divorce in 2018.

"After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways," at that moment, Don Jr. and Vanessa—who is currently dating Tiger Woods—said in an official statement. "We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time."

After his divorce from Vanessa, he continued to date Kimberly Guilfoyle; the two became engaged in 2022, but they eventually broke up in 2024. As a result, the serial entrepreneur, who had been connected to Bettina, began a new romantic chapter around Christmas 2025, which also happened to be the day he broke up with Kimberly.

“It’s not often that I’m at a loss for words, 'cause we usually do the ranting and raving really well,” in remarks delivered at the White House holiday party, Don Jr. announced a commitment to Bettina. “But this is a little different. But I just want to wish you guys an incredible holiday season, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.”

The 39-year-old was absolutely ecstatic.

"I get to marry the love of my life," Bettina went on to say. "And I just feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
