There have been new developments regarding Stewart McLean's missing. The Virgin River actor has been reported missing on May 18, as per to the Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Stewart last appeared at his house in Lions Bay, British Columbia, Canada, on May 15. The next day, officials issued a report stating that they were "very concerned for Stewart's health and well-being."
Nevertheless, the RCMP announced in a news statement on May 21 that the Integrated Homicide inquiry Team (IHIT) will take over the ongoing missing person inquiry.
“Squamish RCMP initiated an investigation,” according to the news publication, “and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was victim of homicide.”
They stated that they were collaborating "closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation" and invited anyone with data that could be useful to the inquiry to come forth.
Since 2015, McLean, who was frequently referred to as Stew McLean, had been a consistent performer. His most recent role was that of a barfly in Virgin River. The 45-year-old has also made appearances on The Irrational, Supernatural, and Arrow. In addition, he produced the TV show CLOUD Van-Demic! and Please Look Away, Volume 2.
His agency, Lucas Talent Inc., posted an homage to McLean upon the announcement that the investigation had changed from a missing person case to a homicide.
“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved client, Stew McLean,” on May 22, Jodi Caplan representing his agency posted on Facebook. “I was fortunate to have worked with Stew for more than 10 years.”
“He was always such a pleasure to deal with,” she continued, “dedicated, professional, eager, and endlessly funny!”
Additionally, as per Caplan, "many casting directors have reached out to share their condolences with Stew's family and with our agency," all of them expressing “what a truly great guy he was, and how deeply he will be missed.”
