Drake Bell has reportedly filed for divorce from Janet Von Schmeling, marking two years since her initial filing.

Drake Bell is taking action to formally dissolve his divorce. According to TMZ, two years after Janet Von Schmeling filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court, the Drake & Josh alum filed for divorce from her husband in Seminole County, Florida, on August 14.

In fact, Janet started the first steps to dissolve their four-year marriage in April 2023, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause of their September 2022 split. Additionally, according to court filings at the time, she was requesting spousal support in addition to primary legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old son Wyatt.

However, the former Nickelodeon star has now revealed details about his ostensibly cordial co-parenting relationship with Janet. Indeed, only a month ago, he exclaimed their love for one another.

Drake stated recently on The Unplanned Podcast with Matt & Abby, "I don't care if I'm angry at my ex-wife,” “All my son knows is that me and his mom love each other.”

“We're not together, but we love each other,” he went on. “We respect each other, and we love him unconditionally. And whenever he's with me, 'His mama loves him, mama's amazing.’”

Drake was committed to becoming the greatest father he could be, even though he acknowledged that he did not always get along with his own parents.

"We love our parents, but my God, did they teach us how and what not to do as a parent," he made a joke. "I hope that I'm able to recognize certain behaviors and certain things that I'll just take one thing for example. I feel like my generation or my parents' generation, divorce was rampant, and the kids were used a lot in divorce."

The 39-year-old continued by remembering how it eventually felt like a reflection of himself to hear his parents criticize one another.

"Basically, you guys are just telling me that I suck because, if he's got no good qualities and you got no good qualities and you guys hate each other, then what do you dig me for?" he stated. "I'm literally what you guys hate, you know? And that's being instilled in my brain and creates tension. It's like, ‘That's my mom. Stop talking about my mom that way.’"
