Dwyane Wade Shares Funny Response to His Viral Miami Heat Statue Makeover.

Dwyane Wade thinks his upgraded statue will be a huge success. The team unveiled the eight-foot tribute's makeover and headpiece two years after the former NBA player's Miami Heat bronze sculpture drew criticism for how it depicted him. Wade couldn't help but make fun of the new appearance.

On October 30, Wade quipped, "Ok ok ok there's nothing wrong with getting a little work done!" while posting pictures of the updated statue, which is located outside the Kaseya Center in Miami, on Instagram.

Just so you know, the Miami Heat first announced the award for the former shooting guard, who spent 15 seasons with the NBA organization, in October 2024. Wade stands in his trademark "This is my house" position in the bronze monument, which served as the first homage to the Heat player. stance.

Even while it was a noteworthy tribute, people took issue with the way Wade's head and facial features were portrayed in particular. After all, a lot of people questioned whether there was any resemblance to the athlete, and the criticism led to years of jokes and memes.

On October 30, the Heat debuted the statue's new face, emphasizing its "enhancements," along with pictures on X, after deciding it was time for a rematch.

Fans are yelling "hoop, hoop, hooray" over the head's change, even though the rest of the tribute stayed the same.

Wade wholeheartedly concurs.

The 44-year-old has daughter Zaya, 19, and son Zaire, 24, with former wife Siohvaughn Funches; son Xavier, 12, with ex Aja Metoyer; and daughter Kaavia, 7, with wife Gabrielle Union. In a Substack essay published Oct. 30, he explained what prompted the changes and said the fans matter most.

“This is the first statue ever to stand in front of that arena,” he added. “That means something to me, but it also means something to the city.”

“Miami deserves to feel proud of it,” Wade went on to say. “The 305 deserves to look at that statue and feel the same energy it felt that night. And the fans deserve to see themselves in that moment because their noise, their belief and their love were part of what made it possible.”

Wade expects that fans will be applauding the new appearance and its greater significance once the squad "listened" and "went back to work."

“I hope when people see it now, they see a better likeness of me,” he revealed. “But more than that, I hope they see themselves. Because it may be my likeness, but it will always be our house.”
