EFCC, Move Ahead and Arrest Them!
“The Commission [EFCC] has intelligence linking some persons and organizations to hoarding foreign currencies, especially the United States dollars, in key commercial cities of Kano, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Calabar. We warn those involved to desist or risk arrest as a major offensive against the speculators is underway,” chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said in a statement.
Mr. Chairman, go after them. There is no need to put out a warning. Yet, I must put a caution - buying or exchanging US dollars with Naira is not literally illegal by Nigeria's laws. I will not like EFCC arresting young men and women who are trying to find US dollars to pay foreign school fees when the politicians with dollar briefcases are protected by the Police.
