Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are Simply ONE
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on March 14, 2019, 2:53 PM
Technology can be unforgiving in making people look stupid. Facebook was down. Instagram was down. WhatsApp was down. For some of the services, the partial outage is now over 24 hours. Sure, it happens and that is not the point. The point is that these companies try to make regulators think these entities are separate and distinct at operational levels.
But from the outages, it is evident that Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are sharing critical things, negating many statements that those are distinct! I am not sure how Facebook team will respond to EU on those answers: we run these companies separately and they have limited technical commonalities in our operations.
Verdict: N for “Not True”.
