Fans Mourn Beloved Sopranos Actor Vincent Pastore After His Death at 80.

Fans of Sopranos are grieving a significant loss. On August 1, news sources were informed by his managers, Robert Attermann and Bob McGowan, that Vincent Pastore, who was 80 years old and best known for playing Salvatore "Big P---y" Bonpensiero in the HBO series, had passed away.

“I had the privilege of representing Vinny for more than 30 years, long before The Sopranos made him a household name,” in a statement, Attermann informed news organizations. “To the world, he will always be remembered as the unforgettable ‘Big P---y,’ but to those of us who knew him, he was so much more.”

Attermann claims that Pastore, a well-known character in television and movie mafia thrillers, was “one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever known,” who “treated everyone with warmth and respect, never turning down a fan who wanted a photograph or an autograph.”

McGowan described Pastore's death as "heartbreaking" and said he was "so sad" to hear news of his passing.

Over the course of his nearly 40-year playing career, Pastore gained recognition for his portrayals of Italian American gangsters, or mafiosos, in films such as Gotti (1996), Carlito's Way (1993), and Goodfellas (1990).

McGowan claims that on August 1, his pals found Pastore, who is the father of daughter Renee Pastore with ex-wife Nancy Berke, at his Bronx, New York, home. He died on either July 31 or August 1, according to Attermann. The cause of death is yet unknown.

However, his breakthrough performance occurred in 1999 when he was chosen to play Big P---y on The Sopranos, a prominent character in the first two seasons of the program. A member of Tony Soprano's (James Galdofini) inner circle, Pastore's character became a law enforcement informant once his secret was revealed, leading to his execution. The sequence from the 2000 season two finale is still regarded as one of the most iconic scenes from the crime thriller.

Pastore's impact will also endure, just as the iconic scene.

“He loved being an actor,” in his statement to news organizations, Attermann went on. “He was passionate about his craft and was always encouraging, respectful, and generous with young actors, taking the time to offer guidance and support whenever he could.

“He leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond his memorable performances,” Attermann went on to say. “He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. May his memory be a blessing.”
