What if someone offered you a $1,000 smart TV for free, but with a catch? For hardware startup Telly, it's all about your data. CEO Ilya Pozin, who previously co-founded Pluto TV, is giving away 500,000 smart TVs in exchange for personal information — like where you shop and what you drive — in order to target ads on an extra screen. It may also collect data on what you watch. One privacy expert told Wired, "...all of this is going to happen anyway, so you might as well get free hardware out of it."
