Inde Navarrette Takes a Dig at Shane Gillis Over Controversial SNL Joke.

The joke made by Shane Gillis on Saturday Nite Live did not captivate Inde Navarrette. Thus, the Obsession star made a clear allusion to the occasion when she hosted the sketch comedy event, two weeks after the comic caused controversy by calling women wearing athletic attire "wh--es" during his monolog.

“I loved making Obsession, and I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m gonna be in a Marvel movie,” Navarrette informed the audience during her monolog on the show's October 31 broadcast that she has been revealed as Rogue in the upcoming X-Men film. “Yeah, Yeah. And I know it’s really important for Marvel that you get really fit so I’ve been working out a lot. So, every morning I put on my little wh--e outfit and I hit the gym.”

The 25-year-old's joke was greeted with thunderous applause and laughter, but Gillis' comments on October 10 have drawn a lot of criticism.‌

The Tires star, who was cast on the show in 2019 before being sacked a few days later due to uncovered racist writings, described an apparent lesson he learnt at the gym during his third appearance on Saturday Nite Live.

“I haven’t been to the gym in so long. I didn’t know women just dressed like wh--es now,” Gillis observed. “Look, I’m sorry. There’s no other way to describe—have you seen it? I’ve seen it. The shorts. Have you seen the shorts?”

He went on, “Those neon—they’re like artificial bait colored. And the wrinkles go like around the cheeks and all combined at the butthole. And don't look. You're not allowed to look. For real don't look because they are filming.”

Dan Levy was one of the people who didn't hold back when expressing their true opinions regarding Gillis' gym commentary, pointing out that women's attire wasn't the issue but rather that "it makes the men calling them wh--es misogynists."

“By the way, I've seen more men's nipples at the gym than I've ever seen women showing their bodies off,” the star of Schitt's Creek went on, “but I'm speechless that something like that can exist on live national television.”

Ego Nwodim and Cecily Strong, two former cast members of Saturday Nite Live, retaliated as well. Nwodim called herself a "whore reporting for duty," while Strong showed off her "new slutty ass orange shoes" to Pilates. She continued,"Might sell sex on the way, not sure.”

Gillis was contacted by news organizations for comment on the controversy earlier, but they never received a response. He did, however, apologize for inadvertently using profanity earlier in the live performance as the group gathered to bid each other farewell.

“Sorry about earlier,” at that point in time, he remarked. “Thank you very much. I had a good time.”
