Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman, is almost unrecognizable after shaving his beard for the first time in six years.

Jason Momoa is embracing a new style. In anticipation of filming Dune: Part Three, where he will return to his role as swordmaster Duncan Idaho after missing the second edition of the film trilogy in 2024, the Aquaman star shaved off his beard for the first time in six years.

In a video posted on Instagram on July 30, he joked, "Goddammit," after buzzing off his trademark scruff. "I hate it." In a reference to Dune director Denis Villeneuve, Jason said, "Only for you." He called it a "kickoff" to a new chapter.

However, there will be other familiar faces on set besides the 45-year-olds. After all, Leto II, the son of Zendaya's Chani and Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides, has been portrayed by his 16-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, whom he shares with his ex-label partner Lisa Bonet.

Earlier in July, Jason told Extra, “A rude awakening is what he’s in for." “He’s into the workforce for the first time. It’s going to be good."

The Game of Thrones star went on to say that Nakoa-Wolf "did it on his own," adding, "You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is. At his age, I could not do what he is doing."

Jason went on, "I was on Baywatch at 19. He's 16 and holding s--t down with Denis Villeneuve."

In addition, the creator of Mananalu, who is also the father of 18-year-old Lola Momoa, treasures every moment he spends with his children now that they are all adults. "My babies and my family are the most essential thing," he stated in 2023.

In a separate interview that same year, he stated, "They want to be with their friends, so I am just trying to catch the final bits of it." "Give me a hug before you go," I said.

🔥 Jason Momoa’s “Chief of War” also is making waves!

This Apple TV+ historical drama, premiering August 1, 2025, stars Jason Momoa as Kaʻiana, a warrior chief from Kauaʻi. The series dives deep into the unification of the Hawaiian Islands at the turn of the 19th century, told from an Indigenous Hawaiian perspective.

🌺 What makes it special?
Personal passion project: Momoa co-created, executive produced, and even directed the finale.

Cultural authenticity: The show features Hawaiian language (‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i), traditional clothing like the malo, and a predominantly Polynesian cast.

Epic storytelling: Think Dances with Wolves meets Shogun but rooted in Hawaiian history.

Emotional depth: Momoa says this is “his destiny” and a tribute to his ancestors and younger self.
