Kelly Ripa disclosed what her spouse and co-host on Live, Mark Consuelos, does on live TV that prompts her to say, "Don’t do that."

There is one thing Kelly Ripa can live without after working with her husband of almost 30 years on Live with Kelly and Mark for the past two years, and Mark Consuelos knows how to get under her skin.
On the July 15 episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Kelly, 54, disclosed, “He doesn’t listen to me frequently, and he will tune me out while we are live on the air,” “And I’m like here’s the thing, I’m used to you tuning me out in life, but when you are being paid highly paid by the way to literally listen to me, then you have to listen to me.”

Kelly joked about Mark, saying, “Literally I watch him,” “I watch him drift away. And I’m like, ‘Hey don’t do that.’”
After Ryan Seacrest left Live in 2023, Mark—who has children with Kelly, Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22—officially joined the show. Although the Riverdale alum is grateful for the position, Kelly said that his response to being asked to step in permanently was unexpected.
“It was really convincing Mark,” she clarified. “Because initially when they came to Mark, he flat out refused.”
Regarding Kelly, who spent 12 years costarring with Mark on All My Children, she first concurred with her husband.
“I also thought that was kind of a bad Idea,” she pointed out “I was like a husband and a wife hosting a morning show is different than a husband and wife acting together or producing something together.”
In spite of their initial reluctance, Mark's inclusion in the play was eventually welcomed.
“The audience really responds to Mark because Mark has a gives zero fs attitude,” Kelly stated. “And the audience loves that. There’s no artifice with him. If he hates something, he hates it out loud no matter how much we’re supposed to love it. And when he thinks something is dumb, he says it no matter how much we’re supposed to pretend to like whatever the thing is.”
“We have been together for 31 years and we are not afraid to express ourselves publicly, there is no artifice,” she went on. “We’re not worried about protecting each other’s feelings. We both just say what is on our minds and I guess people find that relatable.” Kelly said, "I love working with him," so what works for the audience also works for her.
