Yes, it's true—Khadiyah "KD" Lewis, known for her time on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, has passed away at the age of 44. Her brother, Jamaal "Jay" Lewis, confirmed that she died on May 30, though the cause of death has not been disclosed.
"This has been an extremely emotionally devastating time," In a statement released on June 5, he informed The Shade Room. "All prayers, condolences, and well wishes are sincerely appreciated."
Elijah Inegbedion, Khadiyah's younger brother, also expressed his sorrow at her death by paying homage to the reality star on Facebook. "Been at a loss for words for some days now. And to think that I’ll ever have the words to describe the person you’ve been and the legacy that you left behind would be erroneous."
"Long Live my sister Khadiyah Lewis," he went on. "You left behind a legacy most individuals can only dream of. Thank you for loving me the way you did and always having my back no matter what."
Elijah also said, "God blessed me when he made me your baby brother and for that I am eternally thankful. You are forever on my mind and in my heart. I love you!"
Lewis first gained recognition in 2014 during season three of the VH1 reality show while dating rapper Yung Joc. She later returned as a supporting cast member in season four. Outside of reality TV, she was an entrepreneur, consultant, and accountant, with a strong presence in business and mentorship.
After graduating from Florida A&M University, Khadiyah attended North Springs High School in Atlanta. She identified herself as an "entrepreneur/speaker/consultant/accountant" and "brand ambassador" on her Instagram profile.
Her family and friends have shared heartfelt tributes, remembering her as a guiding force and an inspiration. A memorial service is scheduled for June 14 in her birthplace, Oklahoma City.
"She was a mentor to many, offering guidance and support to those aspiring to succeed in the business world," the tribute was read. "Her legacy is one of inspiration, determination, and unwavering confidence."
It's always sad to lose someone who made an impact.
