Kourtney Kardashian shared that before welcoming baby Rocky with Travis Barker in November 2023, doctors had told her she "likely wouldn't be able to breastfeed."

When it came to breastfeeding, Kourtney Kardashian was not going to accept no. In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, the Kardashians star really celebrated 21 months of breastfeeding with her and Travis Barker's kid Rocky, even though her doctor had earlier warned her that it would not be feasible.
On her Instagram Stories on August 8, Kourtney shared a picture of herself feeding her 21-month-old on a boat with the caption, “I told my baby we would breastfeed when he was in my tummy every day after doctors told me he probably wouldn’t be able to breastfeed,” “I prayed about it and never believed it.”
“Blessed and grateful for this beautiful life and experience together with my baby,” she went on. “21 months and going strong.”
The 46-year-old stated in July of last year that she planned to continue nursing her youngest for "at least a year" and that she had no plans to stop.
After all, she breastfed her 10-year-old son Reign for around that amount of time. She shares Mason, 15, and Penelope, 13, with her ex- Scott Disick.
"I did Reigny for a year," Kourtney stated during her then-current Hulu reality show. "He started biting me."
The reality star has discussed some of the other parenting techniques she strongly supports in addition to nursing.
During the May 21 episode of her sister Khloe Kardashian's podcast, Khloe in Wonderland, she stated, “I think living authentically is not conforming, to whatever it is,” “I will like nurse the fever of my kids versus giving Tylenol or ibuprofen. I just want to do that.”
“Once I started therapy, I kind of started challenging the ways we did things sometimes, the way we all functioned,” she went on. “I love to just go against the grain.”
She disclosed that she carries baby Rocky throughout the whole of his three-to-five-hour naps in order to strengthen their emotional bond, in addition to using more natural therapies when her children are ill.
“With attachment-style parenting, I hold him for his naps the whole time,” she clarified. “He’s 23 pounds.”
“I’ll sit in our little chair in the room,” she went on. “I still have my little breastfeeding pillow and then he’ll lay on there, but my arm’s under, and then I have a little radiation blanket that I put over to protect from EMF from phone use.”
What makes her favor such a kind parenting approach? She stated that she wants to foster his "secure attachment."
She informed her sister, “I think it’s really not separating for as much as possible in the first definitely three years.” “It’s kind of just what my instincts—I lean towards. It’s what they tell me to do, I feel like. Just my motherly instincts. Mother knows best.”
